Dr. Jan Ledgerwood works with individuals seeking relief from back or neck pain, treatment for depression or stress, help with allergies, and relief from digestive or menstrual disorders. Always mindful that the flow of Qi is unique to each patient, Dr. Ledgerwood tailors her multi-faceted approach to treating patients to address their unique complaints resulting from energy blockages or imbalances.
With the goal of helping each patient return to a more balanced state of wellness, Dr. Jan Ledgerwood treats a variety of physical and emotional complaints. She practices an Oriental approach to healing which includes acupuncture, herbal remedies, body work, dietary counseling, and she uses the techniques of Qi Gong and Feng Shui to encourage change in her clients’ lifestyle patterns. Her intent is to offer alternatives to Western medical practices and to offer her patients choices for how to attain the healthy results they seek.
The individuals Dr. Ledgerwood treats sleep better, lead more balanced lives, and experience relief from chronic pain. As a nationally certified acupuncturist, she uses this modality to touch and guide Qi within a patient’s body to facilitate healing. In addition, she prescribes or creates Chinese herbal preparations to address the unique issues or maladies of each individual she sees. Through massage and soft tissue manipulation, Dr. Ledgerwood heals physical or constitutional pain.
Dr. Ledgerwood studied Acupuncture at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM where she received a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. Her undergraduate degree is in Fine Arts. In Phoenix, she studied Feng Shui with Johndennis Govert, a Soto Zen Priest, through whom she was first introduced to the theory behind Chinese Medicine. Upon passing the New Mexcio State Board exam for Acupuncture, she was granted the title of Doctor Of Oriental Medicine. She is now an examiner for the NM State Boards. She also holds national certifications in acupuncture and Chinese herbology. Currently, Dr. Jan is enrolled in the Purple Light Taoist study program at White Cloud Institute with the goal of bringing Qi Gong, the I Ching, and energy healing deeper into her practice.
A strong believer in the concept that to achieve health, each person must seek a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Ledgerwood sees herself not only as a healer but also as an educator. Her patients benefit from her ability to see each person’s beauty and innate wholeness, and to guide individuals towards that healthful balance.
“When I first went to Dr. Jan I could barely walk. My feet were numb and nearly blue. That was in January 2000. With the use of acupuncture and Chinese Herbs, Dr. Jan helped me walk normally again. In May of the same year I walked across the Univ. of Colorado campus for my friend’s graduation—in high heels.” B.C., Gilpin County, Colorado
“Dr. Jan Ledgerwood helped our entire family with allergy problems, using NAET (Nampudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) we are all much better, having been relieved of our seasonal and environmental allergic reactions. We are much more comfortable in our environment now, and grateful for Dr. Jan’s expertise.” Carrie, SF, NM
“I was very sceptical when I went for treatment of sciatica. The pain was intense and making me irritable. However, Dr. Ledgerwood knew what she was doing. She told me it would probably take about 6 treatments to get rid of the pain. She was nearly right, it took 5 treatments! Now I go in for tune-up sessions at the first twinges of sciatic pain. She knows just what to do!” A.M., Espanola, NM
